The Best of Times or the Worst of Times?
Does this describe your holiday season? Research often suggests that the holiday season can be the most stressful time of the year. Some main holiday stressors can be:
-
Money
-
Travel
-
Weather
-
Over-commercialization
-
Family (being with or not being with them)
-
The “perfect” gift (to give or to get)
-
Whose house do we go to?
-
Memories of past holiday seasons
Most of us probably want the holiday season to be a pleasant experience. If so, we must individually find ways to adjust to the stressors that can accompany the holidays.
It can help us to think about the origins of the holidays– the origins like being thankful, birth, forgiveness, giving, and love. Think of how the holidays started and what they look like today. Are your holiday traditions honoring or overshadowing these origins?
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
Luke 12:2
Your Challenge
Remember the reason for the season to keep it stress-free.
